About the Firm

Gary Smith and Jeff Craven

Smith & Craven, PLLC was started by Gary M. Smith & D. Jeffrey Craven in March 2003 to provide legal assistance to Arizona businesses. Though their practice started as a boutique construction dispute firm, the partners brought to the firm their broad background in a variety of areas of the law, and have used this, together with their voracious appetite for knowledge, to expand the firm’s scope of practice to include the “Four Cs: construction, corporate, commercial and consumer law.

The goal of the firm is to provide comprehensive service to the firm’s clients. At the root, the firm’s primary philosophy is for its lawyers to be available to the clients. We encourage clients to come to feel free to contact the firm early on, particularly when the client encounters a problem with which the client has no prior experience, or where a client intends to embark on a new area of business it has not yet tried, or is involved in a dispute that has just started.

The earlier the client gets one of the lawyers involved, the less it will likely cost the client to resolve the problem or dispute. Existing clients take advantage of this philosophy and involve the lawyer in their decision-making process at the outset, where the lawyer can advise of potential problems and help to do strategic planning to avoid problems before they can occur.

But for those clients who are already embroiled in a problem or dispute, the firm works hard to advise the client as to options for resolution, and provides the client with smart representation to resolve the dispute.
